An NCERT survey of around 3.8 lakh students found roughly 80% of those in Classes 9 to 12 reporting anxiety tied to exams and results. That is not a statistic about somebody else — it is most of the people reading this site. The number is real. Here is what it does and does not tell a parent.
In an NCERT survey of around 3.8 lakh students, roughly 80% of those in Classes 9 to 12 reported anxiety tied to exams and results. The figure gets quoted often, usually as evidence that something has gone badly wrong. I want to be more careful than that, because how you read the number changes what you do about it.
